Located less than five kilometres from the city, lies a very fine Italian establishment called Osteria De Mesa. I have now been there twice, and I must say, both times I have thorougly been impressed.
Osteria De Mesa is delightful and the food is simply scrumptious. Yes, they serve pizza and pasta like many others, but the quality is up there with the best. They cook their pasta on the premises, and use fresh traditional Italian ingredients, which brings out the great flavours.
Spaghetti al Cartoccio - spaghetti with crab, tomato and a hint of chilli, steamed in a paper bag
There is just too much to choose from their menu, and if you give them a go, it is highly likely that you will be back for more, just to try the dishes you missed out.
My partner and I shared a crab spaghetti, which was served from a paper bag directly onto our plate, as well as a flavoursome calzone. Although we didn't order any entrees or desserts, the serving sizes were pretty generous, and they more than fulfilled our hungry tummies. If we could have eaten more, believe me, we would have.
The service was also pretty good, the staff were friendly, and our food came out in no time. At the end of the day, there isn't anything that I can negatively critique about this establishment, except to say why can't they be closer to where I live?
