The CourtYard has just welcomed a new addition to its family, Oscar, the vintage caravan!
Oscar is a 1960s caravan that has been fully restored to be a purpose-built mobile coffee van.
Originally Oscar was found at major events and festivals, but he now has a new home at The CourtYard, a quality furniture and homewares store renowned for its eclectic blend of classic European styling and contemporary design.
Business owner, Catherine Court, notes Oscar is quickly gaining popularity with the many visitors who come to her unique store. "I have wanted to offer coffee for a while – the shop certainly has the capacity to do so – but local regulations and cost made it a difficult proposition," said Catherine. "When I saw that Oscar was up for sale, I knew this was the answer. He is a little bit quirky, so on- trend vintage and is kitted out to make coffee, it was a simple decision."
With this new endeavour, Catherine also wanted to support fellow local businesses, so she teamed up with local coffee grinder Silva Coffee of Warburton, gluten-free specialists Mareesa's Kitchen Catering of Mt Dandenong and the award-winning Tea Leaves of Sassafras.
Operating Oscar are the delightful Lara and Carlo, two beautiful and charismatic Italians who certainly know how to make a proper cup of coffee.
"Carlo and I have travelled extensively around Australia and served a lot of coffee," said Lara. "What Catherine has here is different, unique and promises to be a very special place to get good coffee. The coffee is wonderful, a lovely smooth finish and we make sure the milk is just right."
Visitors can enjoy their coffee and cake by the fireplace inside The CourtYard if they desire.
Oscar The Vintage Coffee Caravan is open Thursday to Sundays between 10am and 4pm at The CourtYard, 263 Mt Dandenong Tourist Rd, Ferny Creek.
