Oscar Cooper has been around for two years. Named after the pet pooches of the owners, (Paul's dog Oscar and James' dog Cooper), the building that used to house a cocktail bar, upon purchase, was closed, stripped, re-launched and re-branded. Such is the commitment of these two entrepreneurs to put their best foot forward.
Paul has been around the hospitality business for 12 years or so, working in bars and cafes while attending university. Breakfast foods and cafes were his passion. His father, a migrant in the 1950s, had an espresso bar, so the area for him has a lot of history.

Oscar Cooper prides itself in giving back to the community and involves itself in charity appeals. They recently donated all their earnings for the day to the Good Friday Appeal, a charity that raises funds for equipment, research and education for the Melbourne Royal Children's Hospital.
Chef Michael Butler translating Oscar Cooper's vision on a plate
The driving force behind the menu is a collaboration of owners and chef working closely together. Michael Butler the chef has a lot of product knowledge and has known the owners for 10 years. He excels in putting their ideas on a plate and runs a tightly organised kitchen.
