There is a little bit of traditional Japan in Ashgrove these days. With wooden and stone walls, and shelves displaying Kimi dolls and imaginative origami, Osaka Japanese Dining Bar feels warm and inviting.
Osaka Japanese Dining Bar is open seven days, serving dine in (BYO) or take away meals. The menu includes all your Japanese favorites, such as Sashimi, Ngiri Sushi, Osaka Special Rolls, Japanese Rice Bowls, Sizzling Teryaki, Yaki-Noodle, Tempura, Udon Noodle Soup, Gyoza and fantastic Bento Boxes. I especially loved the gyoza (dumplings) and plan to make frequent return visits to try everything else.
For such a small restaurant, they seem to be quite busy and filling a hole in Ashgrove's cultural scene. The food is fresh, made to order, authentic Japanese with a tasteful Australian twist - try the Aussie Roll with deep fried prawn, avocado, cucumber, crab salad and fish roe, you won't be disappointed.
