Welcome to the world of Origami Dolly, also known as Midori Furze . Midori is a Japanese-born, Sydney-based artist who practices and teaches origami with passion and flair. Her project, "Fold with Love III" was selected as one of the participants for The Rocks Pop-Up 2014 and it enjoyed a great response with many visitors popping in to appreciate the origami adorning the space as well as learning this beautiful Japanese art form from Midori.

[BREAK]As well as her gallery and works in special exhibitions, Midori also runs origami workshops around Sydney. These origami workshops offer participants the opportunity to learn the traditional Japanese art of paper folding dating back to the 6th century AD.

The next workshop will be run on Sunday 22 June 2014 at Ryokan Gojyuan in Balmain and participants will have the opportunity to learn how to make origami koi fish which are a symbol of good fortune, celebrated for their power and energetic life force, demonstrated by their ability to swim against currents and travel upstream.

The ornate origami koi fish are beautiful and the process of folding them is meditative. Once you've learned to make a koi fish, you can go home and continue, folding more and more to create you own unique artworks to place around the home or gift to friends and family. Once you become confident with origami, you won't want to stop!

[BREAK]The workshop at Ryokan Gojyuan in Balmain will give you the opportunity to learn origami in authentic Japanese style surroundings. As you walk through the door, you'll be immediately transported to Kyoto and begin your journey into the wonderful traditions of Japan, including your origami experience.

The workshops are popular so booking is essential. Booking details can be found here .

If you want to find out more about exhibitions and additional workshops being run by Midori, further information can be found on her website .
