Most people will know about Origimi, the ancient art of paper folding which originated in Japan. The little-known Kirigami is just as old and involves cutting paper into shapes and to represent things in our everyday lives such as leaves and animals.

This Summer, thanks to Hands on Brisbane , you can bring your kids to The Gardens Club and let them immerse themselves in a program of making, creativity and learning through the Wise Foundation's latest program.

This paper-based class is perfect for kids who are interested in crafting and creativity and is taught by Origami artist, Mabina Alaka. The origami and kirigami designs can be used by children to make their own cards, garlands or used on their own as decorations. All materials are supplied with Japanese yuzen papers and cards along with more modern papers to choose from.

Your kids will even get morning tea with a muffin and popper provided to each child attending the workshop. This is a great way to get your child creating and out of the house this school holidays to learn a new craft and maybe find a new passion.
