A healthy diet begins with lots of fruits and vegetables, but some of your favourites can contain huge amounts of harmful pesticides. Some of the worst are potatoes, apples, strawberries, celery and stone fruit.
In order to avoid some of these pesticides, Organic on Charles sell organic fruit and vegetables only, plus a large range of organic supermarket items, and even organic dog biscuits.

Organic fruit and veggies sometimes do not look anywhere near as "nice" as non-organic ones, however, they are healthier than the normal fruit and veggies which have to look excellent to sell.
You will not find any plastic bags in this interesting shop as they are totally organic. You either bring your own shopping bags or they have boxes.
You can buy most fruit and vegetables that you do in an ordinary fruit and veggie shop, however, you can be assured that if you buy from Organic on Charles, there will be far fewer harmful chemicals on/in any of the goods you buy.
I didn't buy a lot on this occasion, however, I always like to have organic potatoes in my pantry and I bought a few varieties of these. I also find there is more choice here in potatoes.
Loren and her brother, Lyndon McMath, are the owners of this shop, and Loren served me on this occasion. Loren is a bubbly, friendly person who is efficient and helpful.
Apples are something I usually buy at Organic on Charles and these are an item that often look as good as non-organic!
There is quite a large section where you can buy loose products including rice, flours, nuts, beans, quinoa and about 40 others items, and this is a great way to buy especially for those with small families.
If you are into tea, there is a large range of organic teas to buy by the kilo, and once again, you can buy as much or as little (if you are like me) of these, and you do not have to buy a full packet.
Or if it is raw, Paleo, or Vegan food you require, many of your needs will be met at Organic on Charles. The choice is large and many unusual things are available which are hard to obtain elsewhere.
There are far too many items for me to mention here and there are about 10 stands packed full of interesting, mostly healthy foods, and these alone are worth spending some time in this shop.
Loren advised me that the cafe in the same complex on Charles Street is now owned by them, even though it is run separately. Loving new cafes to try, I immediately crossed the complex and had some lunch at Charles Street Kitchen.
Once again, here they sell vegetarian, vegan, raw foods and seating is both inside and out.
The menu is not large, but for a casual, light meal, there was plenty of choice. I ordered a wrap which I am happy to say, was slightly larger than half the size of a normal wrap, which I find far too big for one person for lunch. The wrap was beautifully tied up with string and had a tasty mixture of baked vegetables and cheese inside it.
The cafe also serves smoothies and these looked delicious and there was a steady stream of people going in and coming out with one of these smoothies.
This cafe is a great addition close to the City and is a wonderful innovation, serving inviting looking meals, with a vegetarian-only menu, and is well worth a visit!
