This is a Motherís Day high tea with a difference
I recently attended a two hour workshop at the Redlands IndigiScapes Centre, Redland City Council's environmental education centre. The botanic gardens feature only plants locally native to the Redlands area, many of which are grown at the on-site nursery. This nursery also plays a significant role in propagating local native plant stock for Redland City Council's conservation plantings across the Redlands Coast and is open to the public for sales. See here.

The workshop focussed on attracting native and stingless bees to gardens and was delivered by the very knowledgable Linda Brennan. Specialising in eco-education, horticulture design, permaculture and organic agriculture, Linda has a wealth of information at her fingertips. This workshop was hands-on and attendees gained from Linda's knowledge of flowering plants and bees. More importantly, I have been inspired to plant more natives in my garden for this purpose.

Linda has also authored a book, A Delicious Bunch, about growing and cooking with edible flowers.

Why am I sharing all this?

Because I've discovered that Linda, affectionately known as The Green Thumb Goddess, also runs workshops through her own business, ecobotanica at Capalaba.

So far this year workshops have included learning how to make herbal drinks, a beeswax wrap class, and an edible flowers garden party. Intrigued?

Two coming workshops are scheduled for the coming weeks:

Sunday, 12th May: Mother's Day Garden Party and High Tea from 1pm to 4.30pm

Sunday, 26th May: Organic Garden of Plenty from 9am to 3.30pm
