The focal point, as your vehicle crunches along the gravel driveway lined with row after row of grape vines, is surprisingly not the quaint buildings set up for wine tasting or the beautifully manicured lawn, but rather the majestic little corner that has situated itself into.

As the name suggests, this Gold Coast Hinterland hideaway is nestled into the Canungra Valley, allowing for 360ยบ breath taking views. If you're looking for somewhere to go with the extended family and you live in Brisbane or the Gold Coast this is the perfect stop.

The winery offers dining in their restaurant, an icecream bar, cafe and picnic dining. Our family opted for the picnic dining experience since we had little ones with us and thought it better to let them run wild outside.

My husband organised beforehand several baskets of antipasto for our horde and the staff even accommodated our special dietary needs without a fuss. The picnics do not need to be booked but I recommend it as it seems to be a popular family outing and you would hate to miss out after the lengthy drive.

As part of our picnic package we were able to choose several wines after our complimentary wine tasting. This set off the afternoon perfectly as the wines here are sensational.

The kids are able to play in and around the river that runs straight through the property, which is fantastic on hot summer days.

There are even turtles to feed (we saw at least 30 turtles) and if you're lucky you'll see the giant eels swimming around.

The lawns are perfect for games and there is plenty of shade for those who just want to sit and relax with a bottle of wine or cup of tea.

Our experience here was one to be remembered and while not cheap it was definitely affordable especially for a special occasion. We ended up paying around $30 a head for wine and the picnic lunches. I highly recommend this experience for young families and bigger functions although I would love to go back for a romantic day with just my husband and I.
