Orchids are startlingly diverse in their shape, size and color. These prodigious blossoms belong to one of the largest flowering plant families on Earth. The Orchid Society of New South Wales has over 74 societies growing indigenous, exotic and hybrid orchids under its wings and is one of its kind in NSW. This octogenarian society organizes its spectacular orchid show "Orchids Out West" in the third weekend of May every year and endows the best blooms with merit awards. If you are an orchid fan, the flyer underneath is the bearer of good news for you.
A world class exhibition of the fragrant beauties, the event brings together endeavors of private gardeners, nursery owners and orchid cognoscenti under one roof. Indigenous, exotic and hybrid orchids will be on show from 13th to 15th May, 2016, at the Hawkesbury Racecourse in Clarendon.
You will be able to buy your favorite orchids and avail growing tips. Seeing an orchid (unlike the inanimate decorative ones) flower at home is so utterly pleasurable. Every flower becomes a bond between the grower and the plant. A beautiful story unravels once you take home an orchidling. Love and looking after follows. Finally, the tale closes happily with...as you sow so shall the bud bloom.
