This is the perfect watering hole to bring visitors to Sydney to see the iconic skyline. It's open from 10am for tea and coffee whilst marvelling at the city in the sunshine. I recommend it for sundowners in the city - to see the skyline silhouetted against the pink and gold of the Sydney sunset and the city lights switching on at twilight.
Enjoy the view while waiting for your cocktail
It boasts the same stunning 360 degree view of Sydney's skyline as the Sydney Tower Eye, but with no entrance fee and drinks to boot. This romantic setting could give you the edge on Valentine's Day, earn you those extra points on your anniversary, or it's a great spot to start a girl's night out.
Orbit Lounge Bar is on the 47th floor of the circular building in Australia Square, number 264 George Street. It's a stylish bar, and there is a dress code. The outer ring gradually rotates around the core of the building, so don't worry if you start off next to a pillar - you won't be there for long. The table service is a little slow, but this gives you extra time to appreciate the view and your company.
On a budget? Grab a cheap eat in Australia Square after watching the sunset on the 47th floor
The menu is pricey, so if you're on a budget, save this spot for a special occasion, start the night here with a cocktail and move on somewhere cheaper for food. If you've got the cash to splash then settle in for the evening with the drinks and tapas menu or book a table at the summit restaurant after you've enjoyed a drink at Orbit. Summit offer a special Valentine's degustation menu, ($200 per head with a bottle of Taittenger included and a guaranteed window seat). Book soon so as not to be disappointed.
