Over the Blue Mountain range, about 3 hours from Sydney, lies one of the most beautiful cities NSW has to offer. Orange is renowned as the City of Colour with good reason. Its seasonal foliage and beauty is memorable. Not only though is it significant as a tourist destination due to its landscape and reasonable size (which means there is an extremely high restaurant and accommodation standard available), but Orange has fast become one of the most appealing wine producing areas in NSW over the last 20-30 years.

The combination of soils, climate and topography has meant Orange can produce a unique flavour of wines bringing it into tremendous repute as a successful vineyard region. The presence of Mount Canobolas at 1395m above sea level, also provides an ideal setting for vineyards with perfect grape growing weather ensuring excellent flavoured wines.

This year, Orange celebrates its 8th Annual Orange Wine Week and there is a jam packed programme of events that will tempt the connoisseur and the beginner taster.

Featured events include the Orange Wine Show Presentation Dinner on Thursday, 17 October at Ross Hill Winery. This is a black tie event at $150pp to present trophies to local winning wineries.

On Friday, 18 October is the Orange Wine Show Tasting at the Orange Showground Pavillion. Cost is from $45 to $50 for tasting and grazing food with the option of an additional $15 to take past in the Masterclass with regional winemakers. This is a great opportunity to discover the secrets of great wine.

On Monday, 21 October is Wine & Dine on the Ninth, a dinner at the picturesque Duntryleague Gold Course. You don't have to be a golfer to appreciate the great food and wine in these beautiful surrounds. $110 includes dinner and a welcome drink.

Tickets for the above events can be booked through the website.

On Friday, 25 October, Orange will be hosting the annual Orange Wine Week Night Market at Robertson Park, a real highlight for the year. Local live music, dining tables and kids activities will provide a fun backdrop to the many fine winemakers, chefs and food producers eagerly promoting their wares to all who attend. Gold coin entry fee.

All week from the 17 October to the 27 October, there will be an enormous array of activities available at various wineries and regional vendors. Local artists will be working and available for chats, there will be sunrise balloon flights for the adventurous, various lunch and dinner packages, high teas, soup and cider, tasting events, exhibitions, mysteries to solve, workshops, a trivia night, entertainment, historical local small town events, movies in the winery and much much more.

Orange Wine Week is an enormous event with endless activities to delight your senses. This coupled with the beautiful backdrop of Orange in the Spring promises a week to remember and savour.
