Have You Experienced Virtual Reality Gaming?
The face of gaming has officially changed. Forget the vision you have a gamer stuck on the couch all day glued to the screen. This type of gaming is active; it is mobile, and you're sure to get a workout when you play.

Optimus Gaming is the first virtual reality arcade in Perth, providing a new and exciting experience for gamers and non-gamers alike. Virtual reality is an immersive gaming experience where you can interact with a virtual world in a way never before seen in history. The games of yesteryear are enjoyable, but this takes gaming to a whole different level.

I made my way to the Balcatta location and being located just off the freeway it is easily accessible. Parking was plentiful which is always a relief when looking for a day out in Perth. I was greeted warmly by the staff at Optimus Gaming, and they gave our group a few instructions before plugging us in. We went through a few different gaming options, and we were ready to go without delay.

There are two options at the moment; one is the HTC Room-Scale Experience and the Rally Simulator. There is a third experience on the way called the Oculus Rift system. I went for the HTC experience, and it was incredible. I put on the headset, the headphones and fully plugged into a new virtual world. In the game, a friendly orb-shaped robot gave me full instructions on safety and things to look out for when playing. I had two controllers in my hands and wherever I moved my hands I could see them inside the virtual environment.

The gaming experience was unlike anything else I've experienced before. As mentioned, for many years the depth of gaming consisted of a screen, controller, a couch and not much else. The Nintendo WII came through and encouraged us to get off the sofa and play virtual tennis and many other games with our friends. Pokémon Go has enjoyed success in getting people out to the parks to catch the little pocket monsters. Virtual reality combines gaming and movement, so you can burn a few calories while playing.

When we started the game, I teamed up with a player next to me for a match. We could see each other, talk to each other and even give each other a high-five for a job well done. There are quite a few games to choose from, and the game we played together is called Raw Data. It is a futuristic survival game where you have to endure an onslaught from various humanoid robots on a mission to destroy. You have in hand two pistols, and you and your playing partner have to survive for as long as you can. It was a lot of fun working together as a team to keep the hoards at bay.

I appreciated that there was little gore in the game which makes the experience inclusive for families and young people. There is no shortage of games that are age appropriate so finding one suitable for your younger teenagers is not a problem. Optimus Gaming is family friendly and people both young and old will be comfortable having a gaming experience there.

The games are highly active, and you're moving around quite quickly almost the whole time depending on the game you choose. The intensity of some of the games and how realistic it is causes the heart rate to elevate as well.

Virtual reality gaming takes a bit to wrap your head around it at first. It is a whole new experience, but once you get the hang of it, you can appreciate the technology and how far it blows the competition out of the water.

Optimus Gaming is providing an exceptional opportunity for the people of Perth to try out virtual reality for themselves. The equipment needed to set up virtual reality is highly expensive, and with Optimus Gaming you can have a crack at it at a fair price. Virtual reality gaming is on a whole different level, and the scary thing is they've only scratched the surface of what is possible with this experience.

Optimus Gaming is fantastic for a day or night out with friends or family. You can also make a date of it with that special someone in your life. Virtual reality gaming is bringing the best of both worlds together where you can have an interactive virtual experience that is social and gets you moving. Gone are the days of sitting on the couch in front of the tv with chips and soft drink. Check out Optimus Gaming and get an introduction to the new world of virtual reality gaming.

Not quite the first VR arcade in Perth, there was one in the inner cbd in the late 80's.
