Love, Lust and Longing Under the Stars
The stars of Australian opera have aligned to present a pitch perfect night of free performances at Prahran's charming Victoria Gardens on Saturday 7 February 2015.

Hosted by ABC Classic FM presenter Mairi Nicolson (Afternoons and The Opera Show), and featuring arias and duets from opera masterpieces Madama Butterfly, Carmen, Tosca, Rigoletto and La Boheme, the star studded Opera in the Park line-up includes some of Australia's most admired operatic talents.

Soprano Cheryl Barker will lead the acclaimed cast, including an exclusive appearance from international Australian tenor John Heuzenroeder, mezzo soprano Roxanne Hislop and baritone John Bolton Wood AM.

As if you needed any more enticement to attend, as twilight falls, a full-scale light installation will illuminate the surrounding gardens, creating a magical backdrop to the natural amphitheatre and a seriously romantic and memorable night out.

Under the artistic direction of Suzanne Chaundy and musical direction of Raymond Lawrence, Opera in the Park promises to be a magnificent concert not to be missed, and also offers a preview of Australian emerging talents, soprano Anna-Louise Cole and tenor, Shanul Sharma.

Opera in the Park is an increasingly popular annual concert, so be sure to arrive early to get a prime position on the lawns. Pack a picnic or enjoy an effortless dinner from one of the food vendors who will be set up on site, relax and soak up a fabulous night of opera under the stars.

Opera in the Park is presented by the City of Stonnington as part of its series of free outdoor summer concerts.
