Love, Lust and Longing Under the Stars
The stars of Australian opera have aligned to present a pitch perfect night of free performances at Prahran's charming Victoria Gardens on Saturday 7 February 2015.
Hosted by ABC Classic FM presenter Mairi Nicolson (Afternoons and The Opera Show), and featuring arias and duets from opera masterpieces Madama Butterfly, Carmen, Tosca, Rigoletto and La Boheme, the star studded Opera in the Park line-up includes some of Australia's most admired operatic talents.
As if you needed any more enticement to attend, as twilight falls, a full-scale light installation will illuminate the surrounding gardens, creating a magical backdrop to the natural amphitheatre and a seriously romantic and memorable night out.
Opera in the Park is an increasingly popular annual concert, so be sure to arrive early to get a prime position on the lawns. Pack a picnic or enjoy an effortless dinner from one of the food vendors who will be set up on site, relax and soak up a fabulous night of opera under the stars.
