Your chance to see a FREE opera in Sydney
An opera is really a form of theatre in which music plays the main role and all parts are performed by singers. If you have not been to the opera, now is your chance to go to one in Sydney. First-time opera-goers, you can try this FREE event and who knows, you may well become hooked on opera!
I was introduced to opera at a young age when my parents had season passes to this and this was well before the Sydney Opera House was even built! I grew up with opera being part of where we often went with friends.
The Mazda Opera in the Domain is an open-air concert held in the Phillip Precinct of the Royal Botanical Gardens, Sydney. This opera is a tradition, as every year, thousands of Sydneysiders go down to the Domain and bring their picnics along with them. Here they can enjoy a family evening with friends, knowing that it will not cost much for this evening's entertainment.
At this event, you will hear some of Australia's most distinguished stars, under the stars! You will hear them perform opera's most famous arias and all with the magnificent backing of Opera Australia's very own Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra.
It will be on again on Saturday 19th January 2019, from 8.00 pm to 11.00 pm and you will be able to experience "the midsummer night's dream that brings opera to the people." The ddress for the venue is The Domain, 2 St Marys Road, Sydney.
You can dress up if you want to, (sometimes it's great to get dressed up for a change) though this is not a pre-requisite.
The most famous arias, under the stars - and all for free!
