BMW Opera For All. Live under the night sky, grab your besties and enjoy a free concert in the beating heart of Melbourne. A global concert series, BMW Opera For All is a global concert series that's coming to Australia for the first time in 2023, exclusively to Melbourne.
This series sees BMW working with local opera organisations to present world class cultural experiences to the public for free. Singing some of opera's most famous arias, the cast will comprise soprano Sophie Salvesani, direct from her mainstage opera debut in the recent acclaimed production of Don Giovanni; Melbourne-born and three time Green Room Award-winning mezzo-soprano Dimity Shepherd; Korean tenor Simon Kim, known for his concert performances with Opera Australia and internationally; and acclaimed baritone Luke Gabbedy whose recent role debut in La Traviata received high praise.
Accompanying this all-star cast is a superb live orchestra of 16 musicians from Orchestra Victoria. They'll be led by celebrated conductor Brian Castles-Onion. Enjoy an hour of thrilling high notes and soaring harmonies voicing a selection of the most popular arias in opera. There'll be tunes familiar to everybody, both hardcore opera lovers and total newcomers, and perhaps a few new discoveries along the way.
