This Autumn, Opera Australia (OA) is set to take over the Arts Centre Melbourne with three exquisite productions; the romantic classic La Bohème (Puccini), a brand new Australian production of The Pearlfishers (Bizet) and the rare masterpiece Luisa Miller (Verdi).

This exciting season will commence on 3rd May with Gale Edwards' glittering production of La Bohème.

Opera Australia has secured international Opera superstars Lianna Haroutounian and Gianluca Terranova exclusively for the Melbourne performances! La Bohème has inspired several modern adaptions, including the musical Rent and film Moulin Rouge and this production is set to delight Melbourne audiences with glitzy sets, big emotions and stirring music.

Bizet's romantic opera, The Pearlfishers, will commence on 7th May. This stunning production sees the opera set in colonial Ceylon and presents Bizet's passionate music in a new light. The cast includes Emma Matthews, Dmitry Korchak and José Carbó. The production is also highlighted with Robert Kemp's beautiful sets and costumes.

The final production is the Victorian premiere of Luisa Miller, a co-production with Opera de Lausanne, from 16th May. This moody thriller with rising diva (and Melburnian) Nicole Car in the title role, has been given a stylish, glossy makeover by director Giancarlo del Monaco and designer William Orlandi.

All there productions will run concurrently with La Bohème from 3 May (10 performances), The Pearlfishers from 7 May (8 performances), and Luisa Miller from 16 May (4 performances). Tickets are priced $65pp and are currently on sale through
