Open Table Free Lunch events are a way of sharing free meals with the community, made from surplus food. It reduces food insecurity and food waste at the same time. Four years of establishment now runs to weekly lunches between seven different community spaces around Melbourne. It serves to lift social barriers and provides food to those in need in an open and inclusive environment and encourages the community to connect.
Though this is aFREE event on Sat 2 Mar 2019 from 1-2pm at Bargoonga Nganjin, North Fitzroy Library, 182 St Georges Road, North Fitzroy, you need to register for numbers. Bookings are essential!

Volunteers drive around Melbourne to collect approximately 50kilos of food for the week's gathering, donated by local businesses and established organisations. A team of 5-6 volunteers spend a few hours cooking and serving meals buffet style with 30-70 people attending. This event exists thanks to the time and energy contributed entirely by volunteers.
