The public is invited to a celebration of the Sunshine Coast’s vibrant and varied art scene at Open Studios Sunshine Coast. This unique event offers visitors the opportunity to meet and look on as artists work in their own creative spaces. The magical Open Studios Sunshine Coast provides artists the opportunity to share their skills, whilst making deeper connections to the community. Art lovers can also enjoy the benefits of purchasing art directly from the artists.

The Open Studios Sunshine Coast program explores art behind the scenes and provides a glimpse into spaces not usually available for public viewing, as well as permanent gallery spaces. Anywhere from backyard sheds, shipping containers, warehouses, and gallery studios to some gorgeous garden retreats, visitors to the Open Studios event will visit the inner creative sanctums of artists.



Open Studios is a nine-day event, showcasing a platform for the community to participate in self-guided tours to meet local artists face to face; view creativity in action; buy art and take part in workshops, all whilst gaining a new appreciation for local talent’s creativity.

Open Studios is held every year over two weekends - the first weekend proudly exhibiting the scenic coastline’s art trails and artists and the second weekend, showcasing the lush hinterland’s art trails and artists. During the week art lovers will have five days of hands-on, innovative and creative workshops available to experience first-hand art making.



Arts represented in 2024 will include original ceramics, drawing, glass, mixed media, painting, photography, print, sculpture, textiles, metalwork, woodwork, jewellery, installation, printmaking and more.




COASTAL ART TRAILS



Sara is a Buderim based magical-realism artist who works predominantly in oil paint, ink, and soft pastel. Her art is quirky and reaches into the realms of wonderland.

HINTERLAND ART TRAILS



Montville Art Gallery is located in a delightful turn of the century Queenslander. There is a constantly changing exhibition of paintings and sculptures by established and emerging Australian artists.

WORKSHOPS AND EVENTS

This year, 2024, Open Studios Sunshine Coast is offering visitors the opportunity to be personally involved in workshops, exhibitions and demonstrations; to learn from, and create with local artists. The artists are very excited to be able to demonstrate and share their skills, ideas and insights.

Visitors can try pottery, watercolour painting, oil painting, shoe making, earring making and printmaking plus heaps more.

Between Thursday 9 May and Sunday 26 May, art lovers and visitors to Open Studios Sunshine Coast will have the opportunity to explore a small segment of the work created by this year’s Open Studios Sunshine Coast artists, work that has been personally chosen by the artist to showcase their individual skills, talents and inspirations.

The idea behind the Open Studio Meander exhibition is to give the visitor a chance to prepare before they hit the road for the artistic adventure that is the Open Studios trail. The Open Studio Meander exhibition will provide visitors with the opportunity to slowly wander, ponder and explore, before deciding which of the 70+ studios they'll visit during this year’s event.


Chenrezig Institute Art Studio brings together sculptors, mould makers and painters that produce the many traditional Tibetan Buddhist sacred artworks that beautify the centre and Garden of Enlightenment. The Art Studio is a hub of creativity and provides a variety of services, classes and workshops.

Both the Open Studio Meander exhibition as well as Open Studios Sunshine Coast will be launched on May 8 at 6.00pm for 6.30pm. It is a FREE ticketed event with a cash bar available on the night.
