Do you love visiting the Mornington Peninsula and exploring art galleries and sipping wine? Do you love live and local art? Then how about the opportunity to meet the Mornington Peninsula artists in their own studios and work spaces.
Lucky for us, this weekend there is a talented group of professional artists that comprise the Mornington Peninsula Open Studio Trail. And they open their studios to the public for an annual event over two consecutive weekends, this year on 12-13 and 19-20 November.
Pack your cameras, your good walking shoes and your wallet; you are going to need them to enjoy this annual event. There are currently 18 artists who work in a broad range of mediums including painting (oil, water colour and acrylic), sculpture, textiles, ceramics, jewellery and printmaking.
This art group was was established 7 years ago, and today there are 18 artists with a great range of differing talents. There is a downloadable map of the Peninsula, listing the artists who are open and where their studios are located can be found on their website
here .
You can see multiple studios in one day. Many of the artists are also open at other times and can be contacted directly by phone if you want to make a special date of it.
Each studio will have signage with their newly designed logo roadside for people to look out for. The logo depicts land and sea, so very distinctive for the Mornington Peninsula. It will be like finding the clues on a treasure map, and the treasure is the art.
I met one of the artists, Ria Brenchley, who is building a special new shed which includes space for producing her art. It has lovely views looking out to Bass Strait. And I fell in love with two pieces that I had to add to my collection, one a stunning beach scene and one magnificent flower.
Ria produces both landscapes and massive breathtaking paintings of flowers. At her studio you will see her landscapes depicting the inspirational and beautiful Mornington Peninsula and also new floral work. There are a variety of sizes, price ranges and greeting cards for you to choose from. And this is just one of 18 local artists.
This event is going to be like driving to your favourite ice cream shop and trying to narrow down to three flavours — tough decisions. Luckily, with this open studio art exhibition you can taste them all.
Don't forget to take your ART Open Studios Treasure Map
