As part of Open House Melbourne, the Royal Botanic Gardens will open the doors to 2 historic buildings located in Melbourne Gardens to the public. You and your family can enjoy the rare opportunity to visit the Plant Craft Cottage and Melbourne Observatory. The heritage-listed Plant Craft Cottage is the oldest building in Victoria's public gardens. It is now part of the Friends of the Royal Botanic Gardens in Melbourne. The Melbourne Observatory was constructed in 1861–63 and you can learn more about the sun and view it through one of the historic telescopes during the tour.
