Open House: Australia Day Picnic 2018 - Lanyon Homestead

Lanyon Homestead is a historical, early settler homestead, located 35 minutes south of Canberra in Tharwa. This scenic property is opening its doors on Australia Day, so that visitors can walk inside the house and learn more about life in the region in the late 19th century. As well as having an Open House between 10am - 4pm, they will also be having traditional music playing on the verandah between 12pm - 2pm. Sit in the gardens and listen to the music that would have been heard there in the early days of settlement on the Monaro - songs from both the Old Country and from the bush.

Take a picnic to enjoy on the lawns and ice-cream will also be available to buy on the Apricot Lawns. If you would like to dine at The Barracks Espresso Bar and Eating House, bookings are required.
