A stylish, sustainable and imaginatively designed garden
https://www.opengardensa.org.au/current-season/details/18/482

Lucy's Garden, located at 29 Caffrey Crescent, Port Willunga, is a stylish, sustainable and imaginatively designed garden. The garden has been designed and created by professional landscapers to meet eco-friendly principles with water-wise plants and natural materials that were either recycled or locally available. The slightly sloping block has retaining walls made with stones from the nearby Willunga quarry. The entertainment area was paved with recycled red brick and slabs of Willunga slate. All the paths are made of recycled bricks and they connect one area to another leading to a fire bowl and a semi-circular sandstone seat.

In the garden are species of Australian and Mediterranean plants that can withstand the salty winds. There are productive plants as well and they include fig, lime and avocado, with rosemary and herbs used as ground cover plants. There is also a row of olive trees in front of the smart timber slat and recycled railway sleeper screen that provides a wind break.

You will have the opportunity to visit Lucy's Garden on Saturday, 18th March or Sunday, 19th March 2023. The garden will be open from 10.00am to 4.30pm each day. The cost of entry is $10 and $8 for certain concessions. Please bring cash as EFTPOS will not always be available. For more information on the garden, visit Open Gardens SA website.
