Located at 2 Fairview Road, Crafers is a remarkable garden called "The Cascade Water Garden". As the name suggests, this garden consists of a big beautifully designed landscaped pond with crystal clear water cascading over large rocks into a large pool. The pool is home to aquatic plants, invertebrates, fish and three species of frogs.
In the crevices among the rocks are carefully chosen plants like Lomandra, Dianella, Brachyscome daisies, golden yellow Chrysocephalums and creeping Pultenaeas. These provide a habitat for small reptiles and invertebrates.
There are stone steps that provide access down the sloping site. There is also a deck, lawn and entertainment area with a pizza oven. This is truly a garden for visitors to come and enjoy its beauty.
The garden will be open to visitors on Saturday 4th February and Sunday 5th February 2023 from 10:00am to 4:30pm. The entry cost is $10 and $8 for certain concessions. Please bring cash as EFTPOS may not be available. Pizzas made on site in the wood oven, tea and coffee will be available for purchase.
Please note that due to the many steps and uneven paths, the garden is not suitable for prams or wheelchairs. There are also beehives and children must be supervised at all times.
The pond's designer and a technical advisor will be there on both days to answer any questions. For more information, visit the Open Garden SA website.
The nominated charity for this garden is Koala Rescue.
