Adelaide is turning it on to celebrate the first day/night test match this weekend and Government House has now come to the party. With its planned annual open day set for this Sunday November 29, Scouts SA – who are running the open day on behalf of the Governor have asked for and received permission to run the ultimate game of cricket in the poshest backyard in town.
This gives an opportunity for anyone heading to Adelaide Oval to pop into Government House from 10am and have a hit of back-yard cricket. While you're there grab a bite to eat at the barby, and join in some of the other fun activities as well before the big game.
If you're not going to the cricket the Government House gates are also open for garden tours, live music on the lawns, rock climbing, Alice in Wonderland croquet, adventure activities and a variety of food and drink offerings. Whilst there's plenty of action outside, His Excellency the Governor and Mrs Le will personally welcome visitors into the State Rooms of Government House for tours that will reveal the behind-the-scenes inner workings of Government House. Tours may also expose more than a few secrets of the magnificent house including details of a murder and ghost!
Government House Open Day is on this Sunday November 29 from 10am to 4pm at the corner of King William Road & North Terrace, Adelaide.
