The Adelaide Theosophical Society is extending an open invitation to members of the public to celebrate the Adelaide Theosophical Society's Open Day and New Dimensions Bookshop's 50th birthday on Sunday, 21st October 2018, 12 noon - 4.30 pm at 310 South Terrace, Adelaide.

There will be an exciting program of 17 events with talks by many top authors and a variety of activities on ancient wisdom, yoga workshops, healing and guided meditations and mindfulness, laughing yoga, and flower essence demonstrations just to mention a few.

The open day is primarily to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the New Dimensions Bookshop, but it has become much more than that. It offers an opportunity to invite the public to see and experience all the things the society does and offers. With 200 events per year including a wide range of subjects from healing, to EFT Tapping to talks on various subjects from spirituality, though to science and philosophy.
The Theosophical Society's Mission statement is - To serve humanity by cultivating an ever-deepening understanding and realization of the Ageless Wisdom, spiritual Self-transformation, and the Unity of all Life.
With this in mind, the society holds events ranging from talks by its members, study groups, books studies and talks by invited local, interstate and overseas speakers. A Science group meets once a month, and the society's charity group, the Theosophical Order of Service holds dinners, lunches, talks and musical afternoons. The meals are always vegetarian and most dishes are made by the members.
In South Australia, TOS members conduct events to raise funds to donate to other charities, which include Hutt Street Centre, Charities working in Ethiopia, Mental Illness Fellowship of SA (MIFSA),Catherine House, Technology for Aging and Disability (TAD-SA), World Families, send money to TOS Italy to help fund their work with Syrian refugees.
We are also showing off our private lending library that is open to the public with over 4600 books covering subjects from Theosophy to healing, meditation, philosophy, science to name a few. This library was first opened in 1914, making it 104 years old.
The program of 17 events will be conducted throughout our 2 main halls, a smaller room, the Library and the bookshop. People are welcome to come and browse in our library and purchase books and gifts from our bookshop. which is offering a 10% discount on all sales for the day. There will be celebratory cutting-of-the cake at 2:15 pm.
