Stonnington Library and Information Service have a couple of interesting and vastly different Open Book events upcoming as follows. They're FREE, online and you need to BOOK to secure your spot. Your Zoom video link will be emailed a couple of days prior to the session.

Wed 22 Jul 2020 from 6.30-8pm - Women Writing Crime - Book HERE
Thu 13 Aug 2020 from 6.30-8.30pm - The Art of Mending with Erin Lewis-Fitzgerald - Book HERE

Join journalist Claire Halliday as she speaks to three popular female crime writers - Emma Viskic, Katharine Kovacic and Vikki Petraitis. If this is something that interests you, it's going to be engaging to hear first hand how these authors go about doing their research which is paramount for a crime writer; and the expanding genre of crime.

Isolation is the perfect time to learn some new skills and revive precious items with the diva of making and mending, Erin Lewis-Fitzgerald. For the second event, Erin will be speaking about the art of mending online and will take questions and dish out mending advice. Making and mending clothes since childhood, she's passionate about visible mending and beautiful, colourful repairs that start conversations about our relationship with stuff.

Make your clothes with stains, holes and rips better than new with visible mending as opposed to traditional mending, using simple techniques to give new life to worn-out clothes. Fall back in love with your clothes and save them from landfill. If you're after advice from Erin, email a before pic of your damaged item to libraryevents@stonnington.vic.gov.au by COB Fri 7 Aug 2020. Include a short description eg. what fabric it is and how the damage occurred. Please ensure your pic is in focus and well lit with a clear background.
