Opel Moonlight Cinema 2012/13

From December 13, 2012 until February 24, 2013 you can enjoy moonlit movies beside the Brisbane River, when the Opel Moonlight Cinema returns this summer for its sixteenth season.

Located at the Brisbane Powerhouse in New Farm, the Moonlight Cinema promises to be even better this year; with Discount Wednesdays, cult classics, kid's movies, and more advance screenings than ever before.

Previews include the British comedy/drama Quartet, the biopic Hitchcock starring Anthony Hopkins, and This Is 40 written, directed, and produced by Judd Apatow (The 40 Year Old Virgin). Other highlights include Skyfall, The Intouchables, and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2.

Movies rounding out Moonlight Cinema include comedies (Ted, Pitch Perfect, and Zoolander), thrillers (Arbitrage, Argo, and Savages), and action films (Looper, The Dark Knight Rises, and The Man With The Iron Fists).

Families can spend a fun night under the stars with kid's movies new and old: ParaNorman, Wreck-It-Ralph, Rise of the Guardians, Aladdin, and more.

No outdoor cinema experience would be complete without a few cult classics thrown in. This year's line-up includes Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Dirty Dancing, The Rocky Horry Picture Show, Grease Sing-a-Long, and Breakfast at Tiffany's.
Tickets are available online and at the box office. An adult ticket costs $16 while a child's ticket cost $12. On Discount Wednesdays all tickets cost $12 with the exception of preview movies. For an extra $7 you can hire a bean bed and relax in comfort and style.

Moonlight Cinema is a non-BYO alcohol venue; however you can pack a picnic. Or you can purchase something from the fully-licensed onsite caterer, like classic hot dogs, salt and pepper squid, dumplings, churros, popcorn, M&M's, Maltesers, and more. Beverages include soft drinks, beer, cider, wine, coffee, and hot chocolate.

Gates open at 6pm and screenings start at 7pm. Limited free parking is available on site via Lamingon Street or you can park in New Farm Park. Enter the cinema via Lamington Street or Brunswick Street. For a truly magical night at the Moonlight Cinema, catch the CityCat and cruise along the river.
