Fossicking for fun and opals
It was a surprise to find Opals Down Under, right next to the Skin Thing, on my drive up north, at Glenview, just before Aussie World. I have always had a fascination with opals, and have visited some opal mining towns in Australia e.g. Coober Pedy, Winton, and Lightning Ridge to research the towns and the stones.
It's more than opals and precious stones, as there is a wonderful display of items with Indigenous art, and other displays. There's one of Zebra stone from the Kimberly area of Western Australia - very interesting.
If you are looking for a place for a children's birthday party, why not check the information on their website? They have a delightful outdoor setting and one activity that the children will love is fossicking for precious stones. Check here for details.
One if the many things at Opals Down Under that impressed me was their education program. There is much to learn on their website about the different stones, and they offer further information for those who visit the property at Glenview and are interested in learning more. As well, there is the opportunity to fossick there, which of course young folk in particular, will find exciting.
