Mt Eliza isn't a town that I am in often, even though it's close by I don't go there unless I'm visiting friends or have a reason to be there. To me it can seems a little pretentious, but that could just be me and the vibe I get.
A friend of mine who lives in Mt Eliza raves about the op shops, she is always picking up bargains there for herself and her children, recently adding a $15 vase to her collection which turns out to be a collectors item valued at $4,500, which I consider a great investment!
I personally really like antique/ vintage toys, I have a collection of toys ranging between the 1920's - 1960's and often the best finds can be at country op shops, so I do like having a look for various things however I don't look for clothes and it's probably great that I don't otherwise I would keep these op - shops to myself because the clothes and the brands are like no other op - shop I've seen in Victoria.
At the Salvos in Mt Eliza you will find every designer label that you could possibly think of and for every occasion from formal wear, work wear, ski wear, casual, designer shoes that have never made it out of the box and with the $180 price tag that are selling for $9.99, hand bags, accessories, the range is amazing.
There is a little lesser known Op - Shop called Corowa Court Op - Shop, is located at 32 Ranelagh Drive, which is only 50 meters from the Salvos store. This is your old school type of Op- Shop where everything is really cheap. There isn't always much in there but I'm told this is the one that you can find a genuine bargain and perhaps even a collectable antique. You just need to be there at the right time.
I went to the Mt Eliza Salvo's after reading this article and was sorely disappointed. Sass & Bide jeans in pretty ordinary conditiom were priced at $59.95 - I picked up a pair a few weeks ago from Kew Salvo's in mint condition for $6! I found the range poor and severely overpriced for an op-shop - obviously the author got lucky on the day she visited.
