**Ever wondered about the world of failed inventions?
**
An award winning author and illustrator Shaun Tan and friends bring together a quirky exhibition for like minds to imagine the world that could of been.

The Oopsatoreum is a fantastic space for adults and children to get to know the fictional character of Henry Archibald Mintox. This unsuccessful inventor slowly comes to life as you peruse through his thoughts posted next to his interesting inventions.

Henry Mintox's world includes a 'tea timer' which acts as an alarm clock to produce tea at precise intervals. Other hilarious inventions include the 'near-deaf reverser' (or hearing pipe) to help people who are nearly deaf, 'handshake gauge' a device to take all the guesswork out of character judgement.



The list goes on but I won't name all the inventions as you'll need to go and see for yourselves.

There are 3 spaces where you or your children can draw, write a fictional story, make or build an invention with the oversized rubber blocks on offer. Perfect for the kids with overactive imaginations to play and hide under tottering towers.

Along with the creative stories for each invention, there is a magic lantern show and a working printing press.

The quote of the day has to be 'Oops is deemed as Suitable For Anyone Who Has Ever Made A Mistake and has particular appeal for DIY dads, inspired mums and their long suffering offspring.'

This statement struck a chord with me and I know it will probably be the same for you. This is an inspiring exhibit and for that imaginary 'inventor' in all of us.
