Term 4 of the French Language Classes Online is set to start on Tuesday, 6 October and will run through until Friday, 27 November 2020. These recently developed, fully supported courses enable you to learn in the comfort of your own home with the online classes being provided using Skype hook-ups.
It doesn't matter where you are on the continuum of language comprehension. All skill levels are provided for and have the full support of highly qualified teachers who will guide you through so you can understand and use this wonderful language.
The Alliance Française de Toowoomba on-line French language courses are run in eight-week blocks that parallel the school calendar. The conduct of each course is subject to a minimum number of enrolments as set out in the 2020 Student Class Enrolment Terms and Conditions.
The Term 4 Online French Language Courses and their class times are set out below:
Débutant/Beginners A1.1(A) – New Class: Wednesdays from 5.20pm to 6.50pm
A Course perfect for first-timers needing to start at the beginning. It provides a good blend of theory and practice and teaches the basics of the French language supported with facilitated conversation.
Student will study with the text, BBC Talk French 1/CD Set which is available for purchase from Alliance Française de Toowoomba. On completion of the course students are able to:
introduce themselves and someone they know;
ask and answer simple questions about familiar topics; and
fill in forms with personal details.
If you already have a smattering of French other courses are available that might be more suitable. Based on your existing level of skill you could consider one of these:
Débutant A1.1(B): Wednesdays from 7.00pm to 8.30pm
This Course suits a student who can already use the French language to:
introduce him/herself; and
ask and give very basic information.
By Course's end you will have developed your French language skills to a point where you can:
describe your family, job, personality and interests;
introduce yourself and someone you know;
use simple phrases and sentences to describe where someone lives and the main attractions of a city; and
express what you like and dislike.
Débutant A1.1(C): Wednesdays from 2.45pm to 4.15pm
If you already have a bit more than a rudimentary grasp of the French language this Course will enhance that knowledge to enable you to take part in a normal conversation and:
talk about your daily routine;
organise an event with friends; and
learn how to talk about a past event.
Débutant A1.1(D): Tuesdays from 6.00pm to 7.30pm
This Course has the same curriculum as Débutant A1.1(C) but is conducted in the evening.
Elementary A2.1: Tuesdays from 6.00pm to 7.30pm
Once you have mastered the basics learnt in the Débutant series of Courses you will want to develop your general comprehension and communication skills in elementary French. The Elementary A2.1 Course does just that as it guides you through an in-depth study of French cultural practices and develops a clearer explanation of high language principles.
Once you have completed this course you will be able to:
describe someone or something more precisely;
talk about your past life experiences;
express and describe your feelings; and
talk about an action in the near future.
In order to gain the most benefit from Courses, Débutant A1.1(B), (C), (D) and Elementary A2.1 you will need to use the text and activity book, Vite et bien 1 (2nd edition) which is available for purchase from Alliance Française de Toowoomba. This all-in-one textbook includes the necessary audio CD and answer booklets for these courses.
Intermediate B1.1: Wednesdays from 6.00pm to 7.30pm
When you are ready to build your language skills into something more substantial it's time for you to move on to this Course.
