Take a step away from hustle and bustle and soak up the restful sounds of nature in a cocoon of luxury at Auburn. At One Tree Bed and Breakfast the focus is on relaxing.
Enjoy the natural bush and garden setting
In this tastefully decorated suite the open plan room is separated into areas by flooring and furniture. Soft carpet surrounds the sleeping area. The king-size bed faces the large windows that overlook the tree-lined Wakefield River.
A corner for relaxing has a sink-in couch and plump cushions, ambient heating, flat screen TV, DVD, CD player and iPod facilities. A corner for preparing and slowly savouring tasty victuals contains the compact kitchen, appliances, table and chairs. Outside the glass door and windows a deck extends into the natural setting. A spa, barbeque, outdoor seating and all weather awning are provided for your enjoyment.
You will be spoilt for choice with generous provisions for breakfast; including fresh eggs, bread and croissants, bacon, pancakes, mushrooms, tomatoes, baked beans, yoghurt and many other accompaniments. The difficult decision of the day is probably which flavour of coffee pod to place in the Nespresso machine. Cappuccinos are right on hand with the Aerocinno's frothy milk and a generous shake of organic chocolate on top.
A selection of tasty treats greet you on arrival
After a kick-start coffee and a delicious breakfast, why not go for a bike ride along the Riesling Trail? Bikes are available for hire from One Tree or Cogwebs, in the main street of Auburn. Thank You Water is chilling in the fridge ready for your ride on the Reid Mountain Bikes (if you choose to hire from One Tree). The Riesling Trail runs for 33 km from Auburn to Barinia and takes 2-4 hours to ride. Shorter routes are available on the numerous loop tracks. The 19km Rattler Trail heading south to Riverton may appeal.
Treats for all tastes
Wind down back at OneTree with a lovely hot spa for those pedal-sore muscles and mood music from the CD library. Later, the selection of DVDs provides an excuse to relax into the comfy couch, sample the chocolates and have another good coffee.
The bathroom is an oasis of luxury with double shower, double basins, bathrobes and underfloor heating. Every pampering product imaginable is on hand. Just reading the labels - Lemon Myrtle Shampoo, Kakadu Plum Conditioner and Desert Quandong Body Wash - gives you a lift.
The food miles don't get much smaller than this. The chook run and future espalier orchard are right on the property. Kathy and Michael make a serious commitment to organic and sustainable with their provision of organic food and local producers, energy-efficient appliances, rain water, solar power, dual bins and a garden watered by recycled water. Even the glassware, tableware and linen have been purchased with a commitment to sustainability.
Fresh eggs and the budding orchard
The hosts are only too happy to please. If you ask for a vase, it will materialise! Some of the many optional extras include: picnic hampers, cheese or dessert platters, added romance with chocolate hearts and rose petals, a barbeque dinner pack (scotch fillet, gourmet sausages and green salad) or arranging use of the swimming pool.
This is definitely one the best spoil-yourself getaways I have experienced. Don't you deserve a break?
