Have you been to ? Originally it was the location of Summer Hill Post Office but it has now been converted to a funky restaurant. RJ Lines is the head chef here bringing out comfort food at its best. With experience from Longrain finessing flavours and opening Glebe Point Diner and Neutral Bay Diner, he has brought skills honed from his sabbatical in Europe.
Starting with tasty salt cod fritters served with smoked chilli mayo with a chilled glass of white, or in my case a cocktail of willy chapman and spiced rum punch in quick succession.
For a quick catchup for three, we decided on the deliciously rich sweet plum & pomegranate molasses beef short rib served with cabbage kale and kohlrabi followed by roasted skull island sustainable tiger prawns with a drool worthy bique butter.
We were feeling in the mood for salad which the thinly sliced crunchy salted pork belly grilled cuttlefish with fennel, radish, green apple and cucumber filled partly. But the dish of the day for me was the ox heart tomato, golden beetroot, toasted black barley and fresh Italian cheese made of mozzarella and cream (burrata) salad. So good that I had to attempt to replicate this dish at home. I could of done without the chips but the decision was 2 against 1 until the waiter managed to persuade my fellow diner and an order of chips was on its way.
You must order the dessert of banana and salted caramel fried beignet covered in icing sugar with chocolate fudge sauce to finish off. Biting into the fried fitter to be greeted by the oozing banana and chocolate fudge sauce, it wasn't long before these quickly disappeared.
I can see this place being busy for brunch sharing good food and good wine of course.
