I am a free-lance writer, pirate and mischief-maker currently living in the Huon Valley, Tasmania.
Nature has always been an intrinsic part of Australian life and identity.
We live, work and play in the great outdoors.
But, what will Australia's nature look like in 50 years?

At a time when the future of our environment is hanging in the balance like never before, it is these types of questions that need to be discussed.

And discussed they shall be.

This Sunday, 7 September at midday, Melbourne's Federation Square will play host to a free event, where a panel of expert conservationists will come together, both live and via web conference, to answer this question. The speakers include:

Dr Jane Goodall - World-renowned conservationist and UN Messenger of Peace
Amanda McKenzie CEO, The Climate Council
Glen Klatovsky Director, Places you Love
Jeff Smith - Executive Director, Environmental Defenders Office NSW
Belinda Fairbrother - Campaign Manager (NSW), The Wilderness Society

This is an interactive panel, meaning audience participation is thoroughly encouraged. Any questions you have for the panel can be submitted prior to the event via the One Planet website, or live via twitter on the hashtag #OnePlanet.

In addition to the panel discussion, there will also be a screening of the documentary Planet Ocean, a breathtaking documentary showcasing the bond between humanity and our precious ocean.

Put on in conjunction with The Wilderness Society and Urban Screens Productions this is an event that will open your mind your mind to the possibilities and connect you with Australia's nature like never before.

Spaces are limited, so make sure you secure your (free) spot online.

Can't attend in person? Do not fret, the event will be live streaming. More information can be found on the Wilderness Society website.
