One Mile Beach is located in Forster, approximately 2 hours north of Newcastle and 4 hours north of Sydney. The beach is accessible from several points but is probably best reached at the southern end off Underwood Road, which has children's play areas, great amenities and the local surf club.

The beach is popular with swimmers and surfers but can be hazardous due to strong rips. The northern part of the beach offers fantastic views and has great sand dunes which locals often slide on. It's a lot of fun going down, but walking back up can be hard work as the sand dunes are very steep.

Car parking and public toilets are located at the southern end of the beach, adjacent to the Surf Club, as well as in the middle section of the beach.

The beach is patrolled during the summer months (October to April) by professional life guards and volunteer life savers. The surf club also has a kiosk and there are BBQs, tables and benches and plenty of grassy areas suitable for picnics and children to play on, so don't forget to bring a soccer or beach ball or a badminton set and a frisbee.

Forster is the perfect holiday destination as it offers plenty of things to do for the young and old. There are lots of beaches to choose from including Tuncurry Beach/Nine Mile Beach, Main Beach, Pebbly Beach, Burgess Beach and others. If you enjoy water sports, why not go kayaking, canoeing, snorkelling or diving or learn to surf.

If you prefer to stay on dry land, you can go sand dune riding, horse riding, bowling, golfing, skateboarding or take nature tours.
For families there is also plenty of fun activities – try Ton o Fun Family Fun Park, Treetop Adventure Park, The Big Buzz Fun Park and Forster Kids Spot.

If you need to recharge your batteries, then why not book in for a massage or a facial or engage in some retail therapy.
Accommodation is wide and varied - suiting all tastes and budgets. From luxury boutique hotels to lake-view guest houses and beach fronted holiday parks, cosy B&Bs, or a family-friendly caravan parks.

You forgot to mention that Forster has the most spectacular lake which on a good day looks fluorescent blue. One of the prettiest lakes I have ever seen.
