A one man show has the ability to induce cringes or hysteric laughter, the success of suggests the latter. Charles Ross will take us to Middle-earth for one night only at Brisbane's QPAC theatre on the 14th of July. Ross will saw through the entire trilogy armed with elbow pads and an absurd amount of imagination.

Despite forgoing costumes and a set, true King of the Nerds, Ross, has an uncanny ability to take on each role vividly. If you have not seen the movies or read the books I am afraid you will be as lost as Alice in Wonderland but you should also find the odd giggle escaping. You may not fully understand what you are seeing but you are most likely going to enjoy it. The battle scenes can be a little hard to follow as Ross plays all the characters on the sides of good and evil. The whipping speed of this show will not allow you a second to even consider getting bored and you will be transfixed with this strange spectacle on stage.

Tickets are between $60 and $65 for adults, $58 for concession and for children under fifteen years it is $55. Group prices may be available for a group larger than ten. For inquires and bookings check out the website . There are still several tickets available but that number trickles down by the day. will be playing from 2:30pm on Sunday the 14th of July. A perfect time for families or maybe a weekend date. It is also a great escape from the ordinary and potentially the sane.

Major characters that Ross will schizophrenically skip between are: Frodo, Sam, Merry, Pippin, Aragorn, Boromir, Gimili, Legolas, Gandalf and Gollum. The full spectrum of characters is an impressive forty-two. The only sound effects are the ones that are born from Ross' mouth in a talented display. Everything he does is for your amusement. A modern age jester. Expect a few references outside of the Lord of the Rings universe especially tailored for you nerds out there. Though traditionally forbidden, Ross shatter the fourth wall which I always love as it gives any performance a bit of a personal touch and intrigue. The breakdown makes it not just a performance but an experience. A whacky experience.

Ross will also be venturing to Melbourne at the Playhouse (Arts Centre Melbourne) from the 4th to the 6th of July, Adelaide at Her Majesty's Theatre on the 11th of July as well as Canberra at the Canberra Theatre (Playhouse) on the 12th of July. You would expect that Ross would be a little worn out when he hits Brisbane last. However, this men is energy incarnate and gutsy enough to put his imagination on exhibition. At least he is not offended that it makes us laugh.

This is a further one man performance from Charles Ross who originally gave us One Man Star Wars. Something I may just have to look out for. His Lord of the Rings performance even has Gandalf's tick of approval. Sir Ian McKellen promises that "If you liked Lord of the Rings, you will love Charlie Ross' version." What is not to love about a mad man with the world's deadliest ring?
