Like that kid on the porridge ad, I too am not a morning person. Unlike that kid on the porridge ad, a bowl of sludgy oats at the crack of dawn just isn't going to cut it for me. I'm also quite sure porridge boy gets a full night sleep free of nappy changes, bottle feeds and midnight search and rescue missions to find a three inch superhero fallen down a two inch gap between the wall and the bunk bed.

Mornings have never been my friend. Picture the Wicked Witch of the West as she sneers "Poppies" to her flying monkey minions whilst glaring into her crystal ball before attempting to poison the lovely Dorothy and her freaky friends. Now swap "Poppies" for "Coffee" and that's pretty much what I look and sound like any given morning with a pre-caffeine "death to all" attitude. I'm sure many can relate.



There are plenty of coffee spots peddling their caffeinated wares around the metro area and after many frantic mornings travelling in and around the city desperately searching, I finally found that perfect morning hit without getting out of the car.

One for the Road is a "drive thru café" that never disappoints. The coffee is divine and it was clear long before I read about their history that someone put a lot of effort into researching what a quality take away beverage should taste like. Serving organic Yahava coffee is a good start as it is smooth and never served bitter or burnt. Our favourite order is a Macchiato, Coffee Frappe and Vanilla milkshake with a smiley face cookie. If you like cold coffee drinks I can guarantee that the Coffee Frappe is perfect in every possible way. I think I've tried every iced coffee version available from drive thru take away and the One for the Road version is never weak, warm or too sweet. My husband also raves that they are the only place who always get his order right and never ask him to repeat it (skinny long mac topped up, it's a bit of a mouthful but very manly).



Good quality will always triumph and the regular line up of cars is testament to this. The staff are young, fresh and clearly well trained as the service is spectacular no matter how busy they seem to be. I'm always greeted with a smile and a bit of friendly banter as I await my coffee which is always delivered with efficient grace. Obviously soaking in all those coffee fumes is good for the energy levels because this talented team is consistently switched on. They also enjoy the odd random theme day and dress-up accordingly which is great fun for the kids to see.
