Fan or not this is actually a great movie, exceeding expectations.
Entertaining, interesting and comical.

One Direction - This Is Us follows the latest 'boy band' by their own admission from the very beginning when five young boys auditioned separately for the British televised show The X Factor in 2010.

The rise and rise of 1Direction is largely attributed to their fans, known as One Directioners rather than strict management and advertising. The British/Irish pop band are also extremely talented. One of the members the very popular Harry Styles came up with the band name himself.

It is a story of friendship, sudden fame and focuses on behind the scenes and what goes into creating a close knit group. Apart from being created by Simon Cowell as a group for the home auditions of X Factor, the boys really did the rest on their own, instantly forming strong friendships and it is obvious that they truly enjoy performing.

The behind the scenes antics are hilarious at times, reminding us that they are still young boys at heart and quite deep at others. Particularly when their mothers speak of how it has affected their family, their boys and how quickly they were thrust into fame.

Unlike typical pop boy bands, One Direction has an element of rock to their music which is what makes them a stand out. Another thing that sets them apart is that by their own admission they are not great dancers and seem to despise synchronised dance moves, often putting their own impromptu moves in and working together when performing.

In my opinion the tremendous sense of camaraderie is what really shines through this story of young lads that have taken over the world.
