One Day is an opportunity for all Australians to come together and celebrate diversity and passion for our country.

Date and time

Sunday 27 January 2019, 8am–7.30pm at Esplanade Reserve (Marine Terrace):

  • Smoking ceremony at Bathers Beach: 8am – 9am

  • Cultural activities at Kidogo Arthouse: 9.30am – 1.30pm

  • Main stage at Esplanade Reserve: 2pm – 7.30pm

The day begins with a smoking ceremony at Bathers Beach from 8am, followed by a host of cultural workshops and activities for everyone to enjoy at Kidogo Arthouse from 9.30am to 1.30pm. Join in the craft workshops and make a musical instrument from recycled materials, or have a try at the nature weaving workshops.

The Welcome to Country will be delivered by Dr. Richard Walley OAM and Marie Taylor and the event will be hosted by the talented Gina Williams. "I love being part of this ever-growing event, born out of an ethos of respect and inclusivity, and I feel proud the City of Fremantle continue to lead the charge in the national conversation of reconciliation and healing," Williams said.

At 2pm, the focus will shift to the Esplanade Reserve for the One Day concert.

One Day is a free, non-ticketed, family-friendly event – just show up!

    Performers and entertainment

Sydney-based singer-songwriter Montaigne headlines the 2019 event. The 23-year-old won an ARIA award in 2016 for best breakthrough artist following the success of her debut album Glorious Heights, which featured the singles 'Because I Love You' and 'In the Dark'.

Montaigne said she was very proud to be part of One Day. "I like that there's an event in the country where we can celebrate Australia without alienating the descendants of its first people," the Sydney-based singer-songwriter said.

Montaigne will be joined on stage by up-and-coming soul singer Adrian Eagle, who toured Europe with the Hilltop Hoods, talented ARIA award nominee Emily Wurramara, who sings in both English and her first language Anindilyakwa, as well as local band The Hunting Birds and indie-pop rockers The Spring Peaks.

In addition to the performers on the main stage, there will be activities, entertainment and food trucks to enjoy.

Strike a pose in the photo booth or get creative with the community canvas painting. Enjoy traditional Ochre face painting and sample a bite of barbeque bush tucker.

    Food Trucks

A diverse selection of Perth's favourite food trucks will be available throughout the afternoon! Highlights include Antica Gelateria Italiana, Bootlegger Coffee, Bao Wow, Bangkok Jump Street, La Crepe De Paris, Marcelita's Empanadas, Mosaic Bites, Paella on the Move, Sultan Pepper, The Habibs, Toast My Curry and T Sisters Fresh Foods.
