If you're wondering what to do in the cooler weather, why not come and explore a tall ship? STV One and All can take you on a day sail or even an overnight adventure voyage, but if the weather's not so clement you can still spend a couple of hours enjoying the ship while she lies safely in harbour. On Saturday May 17, the One and All is once more open to public view at McLaren Wharf in Port Adelaide, from 10am to 3pm.
You can see how meals are prepared these days in the super efficient modern galley of the One and All, but imagine what it was like in the old days without refrigeration, trying to keep the crew fed in the middle of a force 10 gale!
If you come for a day sail you may get a chance to climb aloft - and you'll get a taste of what the sailors had to endure, climbing the rigging to tie up the sails in violent weather!
You may have been on a dolphin cruise before, but you'll never have experienced watching dolphins from the bows of a tall ship - or even from the bowsprit!
We can't promise you'll be able to do all those things when you come and look round the ship on May 17, but there's still plenty to see and do. Volunteers will literally 'show you the ropes', so you can learn how to 'set' and 'dowse' a sail, practise navigation using the ship's compass, or simply drink in the atmosphere from the comfort of a deckchair.
And of course there are plenty of souvenirs to take home with you!
