Sitting down has never been so fun
Artists can choose many different mediums to express themselves or to make a statement. Whether a painting, a film or even an interpretive dance, there is something for everyone. Then in 2015, object and furniture designer Rachel Vosila set out to blur the lines between art and design with her One a Week sculptural art project.

The year-long project saw the talented artist design and construct a new, original chair every week for a year. That's 52 chairs in 52 weeks. That's a lot of chairs.

With such tight time restrictions and the drive to create something new and different each time, the result is a varied array of all sorts of seats from the straightforward to the eccentric.

Rachel Vosila lives in Sydney, her home town as an Object and Furniture designer. A COFA graduate, she worked in multiple roles in the industry before eventually establishing her studio in 2015 with the One A Week project. She continues to explore other projects since the year long project completed. You can find out more about the artist at her website.

Though the exhibition is at a shopping centre, these chairs will not be available for purchase, though other shops will be more than happy to sell you theirs.
