What used to be the Rowing Club Tavern in Bundall has recently had a huge makeover to become
, a great bar and restaurant with plenty of space inside, a separate dining and bar area, plus lots of outdoor decking by the river.
As you walk in you get the sense of safety and class, as the friendly suited doormen welcome you.
The bar area to the left is huge with lots of space for mingling, tall tables for drinks and snack food and large TV screens for watching sport. The restaurant area on the right has a number of tables in candle light, and even though in the same room, it manages to have an intimate feel.
We have been on a Saturday night in the bar area and there was definitely a party vibe, with lots of groups of people all laughing and having drinks and snack food, such as yummy share pizzas for around $15 each.
We also went on a Thursday night in the restaurant area, and although still busy it had a more relaxed feel. The restaurant is great and the staff welcoming and friendly. It is kid friendly, as we took our 5 month year old. We ordered drinks (beer was around $7, and sparkling wine starts from $6.50) and some garlic bread ($11) to start. What I loved was once they delivered the garlic bread they asked if we wanted the chef to start on our mains or did we want a break, I thought this was wonderful as often I feel rushed in restaurants - for me I enjoy taking my time.
For mains my boyfriend had from the small plates section chilli dog ($11) and meat pizza ($15) and I had pork cutlet with mash and veg ($32). It was all delicious and what I love is the variety that you can have - my meal tasted and was presented like it was from an expensive restaurant and my boyfriend's meal was more pub food, yet still very tasty. So they really cater for all tastes and likes, just as they say "from hot dogs to a la carte". You can see the
full menu here.
It's a great place, off the main strip, which is ideal for a special dinner or for drinks with the mates or family, and has reasonable prices and a great atmosphere. Plus being new it has the unspoilt feel, with all facilities clean and well kept. It is located at 150 Bundall Road, Bundall just opposite the Arts Centre, it has free parking on-site plus many buses go past there.
They have a number of special event nights with awesome deals such as New York Wednesdays with Burger and Buds for $9 with DJ, Thursdays is Ribs night for $15, Saturday from 2-6pm is Slider and Cider for $8 and every Sunday afternoon has acoustic music sessions. You can book private events there too, from meetings to weddings.
It's open every day from 7am - midnight with the bar opening at 10am.
I am looking forward to visiting again, for one of the offer deals or the Sunday session.
