Lots of stock and stuff to stuff your Christmas stockings
There are many ways to celebrate the festive season on the Fleurieu Peninsula and the Once Upon A Market Mega Christmas Market is one of them. It's the final Once Upon A Market event of the year and a great opportunity to finish off (or, for some, perhaps even start) your Christmas shopping.
As a community minded and family friendly venture, the focus of the monthly Once Upon A Market has always been on small businesses and handcrafted products. By shopping at Once Upon A Market not only will you find reasonably priced unique items and have a fun day out with the family, but your shopping dollars support local retailers.
Browse over 50 boutique stalls that sell everything from clothing and toys to jewellery and skincare. Some such stallholders include: wearable art from Angelic Designz, Australia's largest variety of Minecraft merchandise from Mr Moo's Bargain Buys, Natural soaps and soy candles from Trielle, gorgeous outfits for little girls from Twinklebums, and statement pieces from Something for You and Me Too.
Once Upon A Market is much more than just a shopping event though. Food and drinks are available to purchase from the likes of Liquid Delights and there is free entertainment too, such as a yellow brick road trail with freebies and prizes. While mum and dad check out the wares, the kiddies are occupied with a jumping castle, balloon twisting, and craft activities.
It wouldn't a Christmas market without a visit from a certain bearded fellow partial to fur trimmed red suits – even in the midst of a South Australian summer. Yes, the man of the moment, Santa Claus, will be at the market from about 11.30 am onward to meet and have photos taken with the little ones. Also appearing at the market is Adelaide's very own mixed barbershop quartet, 3 Tarts & a Diva!, to perform all your favourite Christmas carols and festive tunes.
Once Upon A Market Mega Christmas Market is on Sunday, December 14, 2014 from 10 am until 2 pm and entry is free. Children receive a Christmas present upon arrival, but there is only a limited amount available, so best be early.
Previously held at the Seaford Recreation Centre, the market has recently relocated and can now be found at the Noarlunga Leisure Centre on David Witton Drive behind Wallis Cinema on the second Sunday of every month.
There is no shortage of stocking fillers and fun to be had at the Mega Christmas Market. You are sure to find the perfect gifts for family, friends, and probably even a little something for yourself. Further details, including stallholder information, can be found at the Once Upon A Market website and Facebook page.
