Whether you call it
Stadium Australia, the Olympic Stadium, ANZ Stadium or simply Homebush, you'll love taking the
tour.
Since making its debut in 1999, this cherished Sydney landmark has been the site of some of Australia's
most famous sporting memories, including
Cathy Freeman's emotional gold medal,
Johnny Wilkinson's devastating drop goal and
John Aloisi's unforgettable penalty.
Entering the stadium, the tour begins with a laser and light show, designed to evoke memories of Sydney 2000. It then goes to the highest grandstand, where besides enjoying a wonderful view, you watch footage of some of the venue's greatest moments. Next, you inspect the members lounge, media centre, press box and a private suite.
To get a taste of game day, the tour continues with a visit to the changing rooms and warm-up rooms. Then, to the recorded roar of 80,000 spectators, you can run through the tunnel to the edge of the field. Awaiting you is the perfect photo location – the actual medal podium from the Olympics. Climb up and snap away to your heart's content.
Tours last for 70 minutes, and depart from the Rebel Sport store inside Gate C, which is adjacent to Olympic Boulevard opposite the Olympic Park railway station and the Novotel Hotel.
