OLOL Festival Brings Joy, Peace & Hope to Families
Although people may think of Lebanon today as a place of chaos and unrest, the country was known as the "Switzerland of the East" in the 1960s. It was renowned for its agriculture, commerce, banking and prosperity. In the latter 1960s, Monsignor Peter Amin Ziade returned to Australia from Lebanon with the intention of erecting a church, settling on an elevated piece of land in Harris Park, near Sydney.
Our Lady of Lebanon's Hall and School was opened in 1972, with the Hall being used as a Church until 1978 when the Church was officially opened and blessed. It is the largest Maronite Catholic Parish in Australia with Maronite population tripling since its opening along with over eighteen committees and groups. The Parish encourages and supports the growth of the people along with serving the needs of generations to come.
