Officeworks have announced their free, Ollie Kids' Club for children aged three to ten years old.

To join, they'll need to fill out a form, either in-store or by completing it online . Afterwards, they'll receive a complimentary Ollie Kid's Club pack, newsletters throughout the year, invitations to instore events and the opportunity to book in for the Officeworks school holiday activities.

These one-hour sessions run at different times over the school break, depending on which state you live in and the location of your nearest Officeworks store . In them, children will be given materials and instructions for craft activities so that they can, 'make a photo placemat, 'prepare a pet rock','design a dangling skeleton', 'build a 3D vehicle', 'make a mobile', 'decorate a sea animal', 'design a back-to-school bookmark' or many more hands-on tasks. On certain days, there is face-painting as well.

& #8232 ;The sessions are free but places are limited so you need to call and book a spot for your child. There is also a maximum of three classes per member throughout the summer program. & #8232 ;

Some might scoff at the Kids' Club, deeming it to be another example of shallow marketing by a big corporation, however, it can't be denied that there are certain benefits to be had by members.

Beginning with, the way these type of sessions help to develop childrens' fine motor skills and by keeping them ready for school& #8232 ; by asking them to concentrate and listen to instructions. Also, if you have children, you're likely to need to go to a stationery supplier at some stage anyway, to pick up back-to-school supplies so you may as well combine the visit with something fun for your kids.

Craft activities are imaginative and if your children choose to take them up as a hobby, then it won't be difficult for you to find supplies. Some Officeworks stores even have dedicated children's work tables, so that kids can come in with their USB memory sticks, use the computers and print stations, then cut, paste and decorate their work, right there in the store.& #8232 ;

For adults as well there are free 'how to' classes throughout the year. These range from, how to 'create panoramic photos' ' back up an external hard drive', 'choose a camera - digital or SLR' and more.
