I'm a grandmother, a retired teacher, an avid reader who loves historical re-enactment, English Country Dance, writing and Op Shopping. My business is designed to help children experience history through school incursions.

But NO Picking Pockets
Would you like to introduce your children to musical theatre?
Do you feel faint at the prices charged at QPAC?

The Answer?
High school theatre productions.

Over the years I have seen quite a few local school productions and just one was cringe worthy. Most have been really good and some were spectacular.

With that in mind, consider yourself advised that "Oliver" is being presented by the students of John Paul College next month at Chandler Theatre.

John Paul College is a private, co-educational, ecumenical school at Daisy Hill. They provide a School of Performing Arts Programme which offers over 700 students from Prep to Year 12 the opportunity to participate in instrumental, vocal and dance lessons on a weekly basis. Also available is an extensive co-curricular program including bands, choirs, cheerleading, dance, drama and art groups.

I heard some of the main characters from Oliver being interviewed on radio this morning and they were most impressive.

Oliver Oliver. Never before has a boy asked for more.

This is a fabulous show with great songs. Give children a brief outline of the story and if you can listen to the songs before you go or learn a couple of them; your kids will enjoy it even more.

Some "Oliver" trivia
Did you know Rowan Atkinson played Fagin?
Did you know that a recent run of the show in London played 866 performances?
Did you now that "Oliver" has been produced in 22 languages?

Ticket prices are reasonable so you can afford to take the whole family. Adults $25; Children (3 to 17) $20. Children under 3 are free if they sit on a lap. There is free car parking.

I took 2 of my grandchildren to this tonight. They loved it. So did I. everything about it was great the singing, the acting, the music the sets and the props. Well done JPC. ( We are not involved with the school so there's no bias here)
