The newest High Tea in the Valley
Spring is well and truly here! So put on your prettiest dress, your floral prints and your best pearls as there is a new High Tea in town!
Nestled under massive Jacaranda' and within The Olive Estate in the Swan Valley is the brand new Olive Tearooms. Opening with a soft launch in September, the owners have already hit their stride with infallible service, a relaxing atmosphere and delicious homemade goodies.
Despite being a tearoom, I thought I would try my luck for lunch and while initially unenthused by the simple menu, I was pleasantly surprised. We both opted for the Traditional Afternoon Tea ($18) which includes egg mayonnaise and ham sandwiches as well as mini desserts. At other venues, my vegetarian non egg-eating mumma bear (I know, why did I bring her!?) would be turned away, but not at The Olive Tearooms. They happily changed the sandwiches to a vegetarian toasted sandwich and changed the desserts for an extra scone. Have I mentioned the service is great?
Although we planned to spend the afternoon under the beautiful trees, the 30 degree heat forced us inside. The Tearooms have a relaxed cottage feel with understated furnishings welcoming you to spend the whole afternoon, which you will want to do once you see the food! Served in teacups and tiered crockery you'd find at your grandma's house, they have nailed the perfect afternoon tea.
The coffee was great, scones were served with lemon curd and homemade jam but the sandwiches were delicious. I know, I know, how hard is it to make egg mayonnaise and ham sandwiches but save your opinion until you've tried them!
The Afternoon Tea at The Olive Tearooms
All in all, it was the service and great value that will bring me back. The Olive Tearooms offer High Tea starting from $36pp and cater for gluten free but is relatively small, so I would book in advance particularly for weekends (7 days notice is needed for High Tea).
