Family picnic place to a little heaven near Melbourne
Do you love nature? Like to spend some quality time in the serene tranquility of woods? Want to run away from the hustle of the Melbourne city? Enjoy fresh air and rejuvenate yourself? Want to explore a new getaway place over the weekend? If your answer to all the above questions is a yes, then you might want to consider to visit the heavenly Olinda Falls.
The gigantic trees!
Have you ever experienced the humbling impression of being surrounded by colossal trees from a different era that makes you feel an urge to ratify your existence. I am not kidding. With trees probably over 100 years old standing tall you almost start to find yourself a minuscule creature.
The Olinda Falls is located within the Dandenong Ranges and it takes around an hour to get there from CBD. The Olinda walk trail is a perfect getaway for a quiet family picnic. The walking track is around 500 metres to the base of the falls but it is quite steep and gets steeper as you approach the creek. Medium fitness levels are required to complete the walking trail. Walkers pass through a variety of flora and along the way you can also watch out for some of the native animals that inhabit the area, such as Short-beaked Echidna, Superb Lyrebird and Black Wallaby.
Your takeaway from the trip will be the memories of the silence that prevailed, the misty air that filled the woods with a sweet fragrance and the cascade of the waterfall that cheered up your soul. You will remember it as a wonderful magical excursion.
I could completely fit in there and even two more :)
A few details for those who would like to visit:
